5 Surprisingly Simple Productivity Hacks That Actually Work (Especially If You Have ADHD)
From a busy gal with a packed schedule, a love for theme songs, and a brain that never stops moving :)
I like to think of myself as a productive lady. Some may call me a busybody but I prefer people call me a mover and a shaker… whatever that means.
In order to get into the productive mood please stop reading and play Push It . Now that you have the groovy tune of Salt-N-Pepa playing in your ears we can continue.
By playing this song, I promise you, you can conquer the world. I actually typed this whole newsletter by playing this song on repeat. Man, I love a theme song.
How to be productive?
Don’t take off your shoes.
I’m not kidding. Keep your shoes on. I haven’t lied to you guys thus far and I won’t start now. (Disclaimer: I don’t do this here in NYC). When I was living in FL I did this all the time and it works! Living in NYC the thought of keeping my shoes on in my house makes me want to cry however… there is a loophole… get a good pair of house slippers. For some reason when we have shoes on we feel we have to be productive.
Don’t sit down when you get home
The logic here is once we sit down we start looking at our phone, scrolling, turning on the TV, and getting hella comfy. It allows us time to think about all the things we have to do instead of just doing them. As soon as I get home from work I either start making dinner OR jump into the shower. As Newton’s First Law states… an object in motion must stay in motion.

I love a good dump… (c’mon get your head out of the gutter we are all adults here). I use a GIANT notepad and set a timer for 10 minutes. During the 10 minutes I will write everything I need to do on a page. There is a HIGH probability I may never look at the page again but knowing it is all in one place guarantees I will never forget it. By proxy I am able to focus on the one task at hand and be FULLY present in what I’m doing.
Controversial Tip: There is no such thing as multitasking… It is just shifting your focus from one thing to another.
Brown noise has changed my life. Please try it - your boss and myself beg you. I have never done adderall but I think this may be close to it
If you don’t want to listen to me than listen to Mr. Huberman tell you how great brown noise is…check it out here
Free Organization Tools
Notion: I love this to organize all of my digital things. There is a slight learning curve but once you know the basics your life will be so much easier.
Google: Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Photos are all fantastic. Much less of a learning curve. It is great for both personal and professional use. I organize EVERYTHING on my google calendar… yes everything… even writing this blog.
Notes App: I like this app for random things. I love writing quotes that I hear or random observations. I also have a lot of ideas that float in my brain some good… some bad… some ‘interesting’. To even understand if they are good or bad, I need to put them all in one place… cue the Notes app. My best friend from college always jokes how she would love to read through my notes app because it is a wild place.
If you like this blog, don’t forget to subscribe and spread the love - send this to someone who you want to invite to the cool kids table.
